Surcharge to Maldives
To avoid any unexpected expenses during your stay, we’ve gathered all the relevant information on additional fees in the Maldives for travelers from India.
An additional fee may apply for infants under 2 years old on international flights. This charge is typically added to the tour package at the time of booking or ticket issuance.
As of January 1, 2025, the Green Tax (Environmental Tax) is USD 12 per person per night for resorts, and USD 6 for guesthouses.
Infants under 2 years of age are exempt from the Green Tax.
From July 1, 2025, the Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST) will increase from 16% to 17%. This tax is already included in most tour packages.
Other applicable taxes (such as VAT and service charges) are also included in most quoted prices. However, hotel services such as bars, restaurants, spas, and excursions are often listed without taxes (10% VAT + 16% service charge). Always verify pricing with hotel staff.
Some hotels may require a refundable security deposit at check-in. The deposit amount and payment method (card or cash) depend on the resort’s policy.
We recommend checking the hotel’s deposit policy before your trip or confirming with your travel advisor.
Most international airlines include a fuel surcharge in the total ticket cost. This surcharge is calculated automatically and reflected in your final payment during booking.
Airline | All major carriers |
Fuel Surcharge | Approx. USD 20–40 per person, one-way |
Notes:
- Rates may vary depending on the airline and route.
- The surcharge is included in the flight price shown during booking.
Some resorts hold mandatory festive dinners during public holidays (e.g., Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Diwali). Charges are usually not included in the package and must be paid at the hotel or in advance.
Please check with your travel consultant or resort for holiday dinner pricing and conditions.
