Visas in Sri-Lanka
Indian citizens require a visa to enter Sri Lanka for tourism, business, or other short-term visits.
Fortunately, Indian passport holders are eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which allows a simplified and fast online visa application process.
Key details about the Sri Lanka ETA for Indian travelers:
- The ETA is valid for multiple entries and allows stays up to 30 days, extendable up to 6 months.
- Applications can be submitted online at the official Sri Lanka Electronic Travel Authorization website: https://eta.gov.lk.
- ETA approval usually takes a few minutes to a few hours, but it is recommended to apply at least 3–5 days before travel.
- The standard ETA fee for Indian citizens is approximately USD 20 (subject to change).
Indian travelers must carry a valid passport with at least six months’ validity beyond the intended date of departure from Sri Lanka.
Important: The ETA is issued electronically and linked to your passport, so no physical visa sticker will be placed in the passport.
For stays longer than 30 days, or for other visa types (such as work, study, or residence), Indian citizens should contact the Sri Lankan Embassy or Consulate for detailed requirements and application procedures.
Always verify visa rules with the official Sri Lankan government websites or authorized visa agencies before booking your trip.
