Visas in Tanzania

Indian passport holders are required to obtain a visa to enter Tanzania, including the islands of Zanzibar. There are two main ways to get a visa:

  • Apply in advance through the official Tanzania eVisa portal;
  • Obtain a visa on arrival at designated entry points (not recommended during peak seasons).

We strongly recommend applying online for convenience and faster processing at the border.

Indian citizens can apply for a tourist visa to Tanzania online before departure.

Required Documents:

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry);
  • Passport-size color photo;
  • Hotel reservation or invitation letter (PDF or image);
  • Return flight ticket (or full itinerary);
  • Valid debit/credit card for payment.

Fees and Processing Time:

  • Tourist visa (single entry): 50 USD;
  • Processing time: up to 10 working days.

You will receive the eVisa by email. Please print a copy and carry it with you when entering Tanzania.

Indian citizens can also get a visa upon arrival at major international airports in Tanzania, including Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar.

What You Need:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months;
  • Completed immigration form (provided at arrival);
  • Hotel booking or invitation letter;
  • Return ticket or travel itinerary;
  • Visa fee in cash: 50 USD (preferably exact amount in USD).

Be prepared for long queues. Online eVisa is faster and preferred by most travelers.

Travelers arriving from India must carry a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.

  • Vaccination is mandatory if transiting through or arriving from countries with yellow fever risk.
  • The certificate must be issued at least 10 days before arrival in Tanzania.

You may be denied entry without the certificate or required to receive the vaccine on arrival (with additional cost).
